Barrel: 29 inch round
Finish: brown
Grip: Gutta Percha

Item Views: 1092

Description:

One of less than 2000 produced between 1866 and 1888. Steel tip with a German silver post sight on a ring immediately behind it, a Gutta Percha veneer over the barrel and action, a firing button just below a silver collar, and a finely detailed dog head top. The rear sight pops up when the handle is retracted for firing.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The most important component, the dog head grip, is fine. Some cracks are forming in the gutta percha veneer, most noticeably at the barrel below the joint, along with some mild scuffing. Rust is present on the tip and sight ring, with a dark aged patina visible in the low areas of the silver band. The front sight is out of alignment, otherwise mechanically excellent.
