Description:

The brass collar near the antler handle is marked "FAIRBANKS/PATENT" and "BOSTON". Underhammer percussion style action which screws on to the barrel. The barrel has a wood plug with a brass extension that also acts as the tip of the cane. The gun has fixed sights. The iron surfaces are painted yellow with three bands of red. A.B. Fairbanks is also known for making an all-metal percussion boot pistol circa 1840. It is unclear when he made this cane.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 60% of the flaking and cracking period applied, possibly original paint remaining with the balance a smooth gray patina. The antler grip is fine and has aged to an even yellow color. The brass has an untouched aged patina. Action does not function and missing parts.
