Description:

Produced without sights, with floral engraving at the breech and muzzle, a set of London "V" and "GP" proofs on the upper left side, and "J TARLES" on top. John Tarles was active in London circa 1662-1670. Scroll engraved hammer and lock, with additional dog head and floral designs on the "TARLES" marked lock, and a swiveling half-cock safety behind the hammer. Full length stock, with a steel tipped wood ramrod, leaf trigger guard finial, raised carved wood around the tang and lock, cut-through reverse plate, and an engraved thumb shield and floral pattern buttcap.

Rating Definition:

Very good, aged gray and brown patina overall with scattered pitting and handling marks. Stock is good as revarnished, with some space near the grip cap, scattered dings, and minor chipping. Mechanically fine.
