Description:

Dovetailed German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight, with "N. LEWIS TROY N.Y." on the rib. No markings on the back action locks, with double triggers, an adjustable peep sight, and a pistol grip trigger guard. Smooth stock, with a hardwood ramrod, shadow line cheekpiece and curved buttstock. Born in 1811, Nelson Lewis was one of the countrys well known makers of muzzle-loading hunting rifles, single shot and double barrel, combination guns, as well as light, medium, and heavy wieght target rifles in various calibers.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with a mixed brown patina on the barrels, showing areas of gray, scattered spotting and mild handling marks. A similar patina is present on the locks and tang, with a crack in the front trigger guard finial. Stock is very fine, with a small crack near the patch box and light scratches and dents. Mechanically very good.
