Description:

Also known as a lance pennon, fork-tailed flag, and guidon, swallow tail flags were carried by smaller company sized units, usually cavalry or artillery. This Civil War Confederate swallow tail flag features a blue letter "L" inside a white diamond (see image). Although this flag remains unidentified at the time of writing this description, a nearly identical flag was used by the 5th Virginia Cavalry. Consignor notes state that the flag was brought home by a New Hampshire soldier and later found in an attic in 1987. The flag is in a 22 1/2 inch x 12 1/2 inch frame.

Rating Definition:

Very good with some minor tears and some fraying (mostly on the hoist side).
