Scarce early production Colt 1889 Navy model revolver, Manufactured in 1890, the second year of production, with half moon blade front and notch rear sights. The barrel has the standard two-line Colt Hartford address and patent dates found on 4 1/2 inch barrels, but is stamped upside-down on the right side of the barrel. "COLT. D.A. 38" is correctly marked on the left side of the barrel. The assembly number "47" matches on the cylinder, cylinder latch, frame, barrel and crane. Nickel finish with niter blue trigger and hammer with polished sides and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips, with "COLT" in an oval at the top.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 60% of the original nickel finish with scattered flaking and wear. The exposed surfaces have a smooth gray patina. There are a few small areas of minor oxidation on the cylinder. The grips are good with the bottoms faded to brown and overall there are a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The cylinder does not lock and the hand does not engage properly, needs work.. The markings are clear and crisp.
