Starting life as a Match Target Woodsman made in 1940, this pistol was used by Colt as an experimental weapon, and is fitted with a hexagonal muzzle and heavyweight barrel, which is described as "incomplete" in the included factory letter, but begins the description with "Colt Experimental Woodsman Semi-Automatic Pistol". Equipped with a windage adjustable rear sight, with the original serial number on the butt and "X24725" (the number listed in the letter) on the right side of the chamber. A small hole has been drilled in the right side of the frame.

Very fine as factory polished bright, with blue finish in the lower areas, scattered scratches and spotting. Grips and magazine are not included. Mechanically excellent.
