Description:

This is an outstanding example of an original and unaltered WWI German Luger rig, that is complete with two magazines, take down tool and holster. The top of the barrel extension is dated 1916 for the year of manufacture and the front toggle is marked "DWM", for Deutsch Waffen Und Munitions, the factory that produced this pistol. The right side of the barrel extension has the three "Crown/Script" Army inspection proofs next to the Imperial Army Eagle firing/acceptance proof. The Imperial Army eagle firing proof is also marked the rear of the barrel and left side of the toggle. The pistol is correctly numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (3295) on the frame, barrel and barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number (95) located on the various small parts. The safety area and extractor are correctly marked Gesichert and Geladen. It has the standard fixed front and rear sight. This pistol is complete with on original matching wood base magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body with the base stamped '3295c' with the spare magazine also having a nickel plated body with an unnumbered/unmarked wooden base. This rig is complete with an original WWI black leather military style holster that is marked on the front flap, 'A. RICKE/CASSEL/1916' and as noted above is complete with an unmarked Luger take down tool.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% original blued finish overall with only minor high spot wear. The various small parts retain 95% of their professionally restored straws colors. The grips are in excellent plus condition with nice sharp checkering on both sides with no handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The holster is in fine condition with nice clear sharp markings on the front flap with tight stitching overall, with minimal cracking. However the outside of the holster has been dipped or coated in a black painted type finish that is starting to flake off in some areas. As noted above the pistol itself has all matching numbers including one original magazine and is complete with the spare wood base magazine, 1916 dated holster and take down tool.
