This is unique example of a 1938 Mauser Luger that has a desirable armorer's replacement barrel and barrel extension with two field replacement magazines. These field replacement parts are very scarce as they were only used early on in WWII for repairs in the field. They are only usually only marked with a small "s/42" acceptance proof, which in this case is stamped on the left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel with no other acceptance or firing proofs. Also as noted with this Luger is that it is accompanied with two field replacement field magazines that also carry only a single small 's/42' Waffenamt proof. The remaining parts of the Luger have the original stamped factory serial numbers. In addition, this Luger has a side plate inscription that reads in four lines; ---Jubilaumspreis/im Pistolenschiessen 1938/Der Deutschen Versuchsanstalt/fur handfeuerwaffen, e.V.', a loose translation is; Annual Prize for the German Pistol Shooting Competition (or test) for Small Arms. It has the standard "S/42" markings on the front toggle as well as the standard markings for the extractor and safety. The right side frame rail has been roll marked: 'MAUSER-WERKE A-G OBERNDORF a/N'. As noted this pistol is complete with a WWII black leather holster that is marked on the back; 'FR&K VOEGELS/KOLN-DEUTZ/1938' with an "eagle WaA387" proof. The holster is complete with an original eagle 63 takedown tool.

Fine with 99% of the period salt blued finish overall, with only very minor edge and high spot wear. The grips have a nice medium brown color overall with sharp checkering with minimal handling marks anywhere. The frame presentation markings and the Mauser factory markings on the frame rail are clear however are questionable. The base of the spare magazine has had the numbers ground off, before the small "s/42" proof was applied. The holster is in excellent condition overall with nice tight stitching and clear sharp markings on the back. With minimal age cracking of scuffing. The outside leather has been repolished at some point in time however now it looks very old. The tops of the two belt loops on the back have also been professionally resewn.
