Description:

This is an example of a scarce 1923 Commercial Luger as produced by the DWM factory. These pistols fall into the late post WWI commercial serial number range. These were produced expressly for the US market and are scarce today. The distinguishing feature of this model is that they were marked 'LOADED' and 'SAFE' on the extractor and upper safety position, in lieu of "Geladen" and "Gesichert". They have standard commercial markings with the blank chamber area on the barrel extension with the standard DWM logo on top of the front toggle assembly. The various parts are all numbered in the commercial fashion, with the full serial number on the frame and underside of the barrel with the other parts numbered with the last two digits, but usually on the back side or inside of the parts to somewhat hide them. It has the standard inverted barleycorn front sight with the notch rear sight. The front of the frame is correctly marked "GERMANY" indicating it was intended for export. The underside of the barrel, and barrel extension, has a standard "Crown/N" commercial proof. It is complete with a single magazine with an unmarked magazine body with a unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% original blue finish overall with the back strap slightly faded. The various small parts show 95% of straw color. The walnut grips are both in excellent condition overall showing a nice light brown matching color on both grips. The pistol has matching numbers. A very nice example of a scarce Safe and Loaded 1923 Commercial Luger pistol.
