Description:

This is just a wonderful example of a near new and completely all original, very late 1913 dated DWM Military contract Luger pistol. The year of 1913 was a transition year for the Luger pistol, in that the German Army was in the process of adopting two new features; one a permanent stock lug on the rear grip strap that a wooden stock could be attached to the luger and two, the adoption of the hold-open latch in the frame so that after the last round was fired the toggles would stay open to speed up loading the next magazine. This Luger has one of those features, the hold-open device. The top of the chamber area is dated 1913, and it has the DWM logo on the front toggles. The right side of the barrel extension has the three "Crown/Script letter" Army inspection proofs, next to the single Army test proof. There is also a single Imperial Army test proof on the barrel. This Luger is marked in the standard military fashion with the full serial number (8722) stamped on the frame, barrel and barrel extension with the last two digits on the various small parts. It has the standard safety and extractor markings and is fitted with the original checkered walnut grips and it has the original, matching numbered magazine with this pistol. The magazine itself has the nickel plated body with the wooden base correctly marked, '8722/+'.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the original pre-war rust blued finish overall with 98% of the professionally restored straw colors on the small parts. There is absolutely no wear on the blued parts anywhere. The walnut grips are also in exceptional condition with crisp sharp checkering overall with no cracks, damage or even the slightest handling mark. The small parts retain their original serial numbers, and the overall restoration of the straw colors only adds to the exceptional condition of this beautiful pistol overall. As noted this pistol has completely matching serial numbers on all the parts to include the original matching magazine. Just a superb, stunning example of an all original, 1908 DWM military contract Luger pistol. .
