Manufactured in 1944. Also known as the "Bullseye Match Target", the top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent information. The left side of the barrel is marked with the "MATCH / bullseye / TARGET" logo, the left side of the frame is marked "THE WOODSMAN" and the left side of the slide "COLT AUTOMATIC / CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. Blade front and adjustable rear target sights, all blue finish, blue Colt marked magazine and fitted with a pair of original checkered "elephant ear" walnut grips with Colt medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to an individual in Washington, D.C. on April 5, 1944. (This is unusual as wartime production did not allow for a commercial shipment; this individual must have had some clout with the Government!) Complete with an original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun, with the lid end label reading "HEAVY / BARREL", "MATCH TARGET", "PATRIDGE / SIGHTS" and "COLT", "AUTOMATIC PISTOL / WOODSMAN MODEL" ".22 / LONG RIFLE", correct interior labels, "special instructions" and "shooting suggestions" pamphlets, manual, cleaning brush, Woodsman and rear sight hanging tags and rear sight screwdriver. With a production of only about 15,100, this model is the most difficult to find.

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% plus original blue finish with some pin prick type pitting on the left side of the muzzle and slide with some minor high edge wear. Overall there are a few minor scratches and handling marks. The grips are excellent, (rarely found without the ears damaged or broken off), with a few minor scratches and handling marks, with crisp checkering. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent. Box is very good. It has faded somewhat, toe corners on the lid are separated and there are some stains on the exterior.
