Manufactured in 1859 from a total production of about 7,163. The top of the breechblock is marked "U.S./S. NORTH/MIDLTN/CONN/1839". It has the sliding bayonet/ramrod under the barrel and two finger ridges on the trigger guard plate behind the trigger and sling ring on the end. Fixed blade front and notch rear sights and mounted with a one piece 3/4 length walnut stock with tool compartment on the bottom of the buttstock, (tools not included) and flat iron buttplate. There is an oval visible on the left flat, initials not visible. As an historical note, the Model 1833 was the earliest percussion weapon officially adopted by the U.S. or any other government and the earliest breechloader. The bayonet configuration was quite advanced for its time as well.

Fair. The metal surfaces have a mottled brown patina with some scattered pitting on the barrel, frame and breechblock. The stock has a 3 inch crack on the right side of the wrist and signs of some course sanding on the left side of the wrist, a moderate crack between the trigger guard plate and latch base and two minor cracks extending from the front of the latch plate forward about 1 1/2 inches. Overall there are some minor dents and dings. The marking is readable. The mechanics are good.
