This bowie knife was manufactured by Hassam of Boston, Massachusetts. Hassam was a Union knife contractor during the Civil War. The left side of the blade is marked "HASSAM" (traces remain). The clip point blade is 10 inches long with an overall length of 15 inches. The knife has an "S" shaped brass crossguard and a nicely figured hardwood handle with two rivets.

Good. The blade has a dark aged patina with some minor pitting. The brass has a mixed dark aged patina. The refinished handle has a few minor handling marks.
