Manufactured in 1862 during the Civil War. Post front sight with standard hammer notched rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U. S. AMERICA" and "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame. "Crown /V" and "Crown / GP" British proofmarked on the left side of the barrel lug and alternating on each chamber of the cylinder. The five shot cylinder is roll engraved with the Stagecoach Hold-up scene and marked "COLTS PATENT / No 13060". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and back strap, with the partial number "3060" on the loading lever and cylinder pin. There is an "E" below the frame, trigger guard and back strap serial number. The wedge is mis-matched (12959). Barrel and cylinder are blue; hammer, loading lever, and frame casehardened and the brass round trigger guard and back strap silver plated. Smooth varnished walnut grips. Complete with green felt lined wooden case with a blank circled initial lid plaque and Colt's London directions label affixed to the inside of the lid. The case contains the following: 1) A brown lacquer flask. 2) A nipple wrench/screwdriver. 3) A brass bullet mold marked "COLT'S / PATENT". 4) Eley Bros. 100 count cap tin, partially full. 5) An empty box for 6 cartridges. 6) A partial cartridge box. 7) A key. 8) An oiler. 9) Several conical and round lead bullets.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 85% original blue finish with some thinning, edge wear, light spotting and some minor dings and scratches. The cylinder retains 30% original dark blue finish with a smooth brownish patina on the balance and clear scene. The frame, loading lever and hammer retain 80% original case colors. The back and back straps have an aged patina, while the trigger guard retains most of the age darkened, silver plating. The grip has had an extra coat of varnish applied which is very fine with all of the varnish remaining and a few minor dents. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case is very good as revarnished on the exterior. The lining is torn from contact with the front sight and hammer. The accessories are all very good or better with part of one end of the cartridge box absent.
