Description:

Manufactured in 1876. The top of the barrel is marked "+ COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.", the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent date marking and the matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, bullseye ejector rod head and fitted with smooth one- piece walnut grip. The accompanying factory letter states the serial number, caliber, blue finish, with barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 50 to B. Kittredge & Company, Cincinnati, Ohio on January 31, 1876. The remarks state that the records did not include the barrel length or grips, however 7 1/2 inch barrel and walnut grips were considered standard issue for that time period.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brownish gray patina with some minor oxidation on the cylinder. The grip is good as period altered, the right side has a large concave indentation present at the top, there is moderate wear on the lower edges and there are a few scattered minor dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
