Manufactured currently in Cody Wyoming by the Ballard Rifle and Cartridge Company. Globe front sight with a tang mounted vernier rear sight. Fitted with a medium weight round barrel finished brown, and equipped with scope blocks. Tang mounted vernier mid-range peep sight. The receiver is casehardened and marked "BALLARD RIFLE AND CARTRIDGE / Co. LLC - Cody Wyoming USA / BALLARD'S PATENT. NOV 5, 1861" on the upper left side. The stud has been added to the upper left side covering a portion of the marking. The upper left rear of the barrel is marked "38 - 55" and the bottom under the forearm is crudely marked partially unreadable "MOON BARREL" and "BIGFORK / 38-55 / MONTANA". The front of the action is stamped "BLACK POWDER". Pistol grip action with double set triggers and Schuetzen loop and spur lever. This rifle also features a fancy walnut checkered forearm with contrasting forend and palm rest base, and pistol grip stock with a hand rubbed finish, and nickel plated Schuetzen buttplate.

Excellent. The barrel retains 95% original finish with a couple of minor scratches and some wear from the forearm. The action and lever retain 99% original bright case colors. The wood is also excellent with a few very minor dings and handling marks, and sharp checkering. The action is excellent.
