Description:

This is a very nice example of an original 1916 dated, DWM produced luger pistol complete with one magazine and a black leather holster. The top of the barrel extension is dated 1916 for the year of manufacture and the front toggle is marked "DWM", for Deutsch Waffen Und Munitions, the factory that produced this pistol. The right side of the barrel extension has the three Crown/Script Army inspection proofs next to the Imperial Army eagle firing/acceptance proof. The Imperial Army eagle firing proof is also marked the rear of the barrel and left side of the toggle. The pistol is correctly numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (8330) on the frame, barrel and barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number (30) located on the various small parts. The safety area and extractor are correctly marked Gesichert and Geladen. It has the standard fixed front and rear sight. This pistol is complete with one original, unmarked wood base magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body. The wooden base has been crudely carved with the letter "O". This pistol is complete with an original WWI era brown leather holster (that has been dyed black) that is marked on the back side "PAUL MORSZECK/KOLN" with a very faint, boxed Weimar era ink stamped proof inside the flap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as modified ("Fire" marked Electro penciled on frame) with 90% plus of the original blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear on the various areas, along with the side plate hump and muzzle area. Some of the areas of the pistol show a very, very minor light rust spots developing. The grips are in very fine condition with nice checkering on both sides, showing only minor wear across the tops of the checkering. The pistol has matching numbers except the magazine as noted, the firing pin and grips which are unnumbered. The word "FIRE" has been marked/scratched under the safety lever, for safety purposes. The holster as noted was originally brown that was dyed black during the Weimar era and is currently in good plus condition, with nice tight stitching overall, with the front of the holster and lower magazine pouch showing minor age cracking from use. The markings are clear and sharp.
