The chamber is dated 1914 and the toggle is marked "DWM". The right side of the barrel extension has the three crown over letter proofs next to the Imperial eagle proof. The Imperial eagle is also marked on the right rear of the barrel and on the left side of the breechblock. The matching serial number is marked on the left side of the barrel extension, front of the frame and bottom of the barrel, with the partial number "38" and crown over script letter on most of the small parts. The bottom of the barrel is marked with the bore diameter "8,83" and "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" marked on the safety and extractor. Blade front and tangent rear sights, both with fine adjusting screw, unmarked plated magazine with wooden bottom numbered "1079/b" and fitted with matching (stamped 38" on the insides) checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol retains 40% original blue finish, mainly concentrated on the barrel extension and upper frame areas. The balance is thinning with areas of smooth gray and brown patina. There is some scattered minor spotting and pitting. 40% of the original straw color remains on the trigger and takedown lever with a mottled gray patina on the balance and minor pitting on the safety lever. The grips are fine with a few minor dings and nicks in the otherwise crisp checkering. The marking are clear. The magazine hangs up a bit, otherwise the mechanics are very good.
