Description:

The underside of this Japanese grenade launcher is stamped "2" for Type 2 and Japanese script for grenade launcher along with the numbers "53" and "33021". With a canvas pouch and a correct wooden bullet. The Type 2 grenade launcher is a copy of the German Schiessbecher and was produced from 1942 to 1943 to be used with the Type 38 or Type 99 rifle. The Japanese modeled the pouch on the American snap-clip pouch. Included with this lot are rare Japanese unit issue papers. These papers document a certain Sgt. Fuse and his unit (a total of 18 soldiers) who were issued from the Tokyo Army Deposit eighteen scabbard (for bayonets) and a like number of belts, dated Showah 14 (August 14, 1939). It seem they were originally stationed in Hiroshima in Showah 13 and then transferred.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% original blue finish remaining with some minor pitting and some minor handling marks. The pouch is good as stained with tight stitching.
