Built by the Electric Launch Company as part of their first series of 70' Patrol Torpedo Boats, PT-10 served briefly with the U.S. Navy before being transferred to the British in 1940, who redesignated it MTB (Motor Torpedo Boat) 259. MTB-259 was lost in 1942 during Operation Vigorous, a failed attempt to resupply the island of Malta, when the vessel foundered in rough seas.
