Description:

Drift adjustable rear sight and silver blade front sight, with adjustments for the 450 round and the 455/476 round. Marked ""WG" TARGET MODEL" on the left side of the topstrap, "455/476" on the left side of the barrel and "WEBLEY/PATENTS" on the frame next to the winged bullet logo. Equipped with a checkered hammer and trigger, Whiting Patent cylinder release mechanism, and checkered grips with a lanyard swivel on the butt. According to information provided by the consignor, this arm was sold by the Army & Navy stores to then-Major Richard Courtenay Brabazon Throckmorton of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Throckmorton was the son of Captain Richard Charles Acton, 10th Baronet Throckmorton of Coughton, and served with the Fusiliers during the Boer Wars, including participation in the Relief of Ladysmith and the Battles of Colenso and Tugela Heights. As a Lieutenant Colonel, Throckmorton took command of the 5th Battalion of the Wiltshire Regiment during the First World War, and was killed in action on 9 April 1916, during the British attempt to relieve the Siege of Kut in Mesopotamia.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period refurbished, showing 97% of the bright high polish blue finish, with small areas of plum patina and mild handling marks. Grips are very fine, with mended chips at the toes and some light wear and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
