Description:

Produced by Camillus circa 1967-68, this is an example of one of 180 experimental non-sparking, non-magnetic demolition knives, as pictured on page 129 of "Military Pocket Knives" by Silvey. The majority (approximately 150) of these knives went to Vietnam for evaluation and use, and examples are rarely found Stateside. Most likely meant to replace the demolition pliers of the era, the knife incorporates many of the same features, and with the exception of a spring bar, the square end tool, and three pins, the knife is non-magnetic. The slabs are black anodized aluminum, with a 2 1/4 inch copper punch awl, 4 1/4 inch copper knife blade with 10cm ruler on the side and a wire stripping notch, and a 3/4 inch steel rectangular tool next to the blade. A pair of U-notches are present in the slabs, one lined up with the stripper, the other at the blade for wire cutting. There is no maker's mark anywhere on the knife, however based on the noted reference we have listed it as being made by the Camillus company.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall. Some components have been replaced with steel parts. The slabs show 98% of the anodized finish, with edge wear and scratches, and the copper components have a fine darkened appearance, lightening on the edges and evidence of sharpening. Mild spotting on the steel components. A scarce item in any condition.
