Description:

Blade front and later production replacement Model 1884 Buffington rear sights with barrel stamped with standard "V/P/eagle head/P" markings on left side. Low arch breechblock marked "U.S./MODEL/1873" and lock plate marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" next to an eagle with shield. Smooth straight grip stock with ramrod, 2 barrel bands, "SWP/1883" cartouche, circled script "P" in the grip area, replacement leather sling, and smooth "US" marked buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish with the balance a smooth plum patina. There is an area of minor spotting on the barrel. The breech block and upper tang retains 90% plus original case colors. The stock is excellent with some scattered minor handling marks. The cartouche is clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
