Description:

Made under a South American contract marked "CAL. 7mm" on the barrel and the three line address/patent date on upper tang. "U" marked barrel bands, rear sight graduated to 21 with left side graduated to 13. Smooth stock with full forearm, handguard, steel cleaning rod, Remington bayonet, and steel buttplate. With a 1903-04 M. Hartley Co. price list. Consignor notes state that price list belonged to Remington expert George Layman.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 70% slightly faded original blue finish and the barrel bands and buttplate retain strong traces of finish in the protected areas with the overall balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains 90% original case colors. The wood is very good with some minor handling marks and a few minor gouges and dents with a noticable deep gouge near the stock toe. The re-blued bayonet retains 70% blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some pin point pitting. The bayonet grip panels have a couple hairline cracks and some minor dings/dents.
