Manufactured from 1899 to 1919. Blade front and three leaf rear sights. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address/patent dates, the left rear is marked ""SAVAGE HI - PRESSURE STEEL/MODEL 1899" and "30-30" is marked at the breech. The upper receiver tang is drilled and tapped for sight mounting, saddle ring and staple mounted on the upper left rear of the receiver, blue finish with casehardened lever and mounted with a smooth Schnabel walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as partially refinished. The barrel retains 60% original blue finish, thinning in areas and showing scattered areas of streaked cold blue touch-up. The receiver also has an artificial smooth brown patina with scattered traces of original blue finish heaviest in the protected areas. Most of the original blue finish remains on the lower tang. The lever has a smooth gray patina with flashes of original case colors, and the buttplate has a smooth mottled gray patina. The revarnished wood is good with only some slight handling marks. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is very good.
