This is a magnificent set of engraved Winchester Model 1895 lever action rifles commemorating the one hundredth anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt's African safari. The rifle features a blue barrel, hammer, buttplate and trigger, with a silvered finish on the remaining surfaces. The left side of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 Theodore Roosevelt High Grade - - Caliber 405 Win. ONLY". The sides of the receiver are engraved and gold filled, magazine and forward portion of the lever are engraved with various gold filled African animals with a gold filled rope design highlighting the animals and a gold filled outline of Africa in the center. The left side of the magazine has two gold lions and gold filled banners reading "THEODORE/ROOSEVELT/SAFARI/CENTENNIAL" and "1909/2009", the left front of the lever has a gold filled likeness of Roosevelt in a gold oval. The right side of the magazine has two gold rhinos and a gold banner reading "BIG MEDICINE" and the right front of the lever has a gold Roosevelt standing holding a rifle, also in a gold oval. The gold filled engraving is surrounded by floral scroll engraving with a diamond pattern around the outline of Africa. The bottom of the lever has the gold signature of Roosevelt. The barrel is equipped with a beaded blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights, tang mounted safety marked "WINCHESTER/MODEL 1895" marked behind it and mounted with a nice straight grain checkered walnut stock with a white inset medallion on the right side of the stock with black lettering reading "THEODORE ROOSEVELT/1909 2009 flanking intertwined TR/SAFARI CENTENNIAL" with a diamond shaped bordering. The rifles are complete in a canvas covered case with brass hardware, leather handle, straps and corner and edge protectors. There is a tooled intertwined "TR" leather tag shaped like a shield on the handle and a leather label with commemorative tooling. The lining is brown felt with red embroidered "WINCHESTER" on the inside of the lid. In the case is a copy of the Safari Commemorative book "African Game Trails" written by Theodore roosevelt and edited by Peter Capstick. Also comes with the box numbered to the gun and the original shipping box. There were only 1,000 of these sets made.

This High Grade Custom Grade, features an all blue finish with a blade front sight with bead and adjustable buck horn rear sight. The top of the barrel is matted and there is a gold scallop band around the muzzle. The left side of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER Model 1895 Theodore Roosevelt Custom Grade - - Caliber 405 Win ONLY". The receiver, magazine and forward portion of the lever are engraved with floral scroll and diamond designs with the same gold filled features as on "A". The top of the bolt has the same gold intertwined "TR" as "A" also. The hammer is jeweled and the rifle is mounted with fancier walnut checkered forearm and straight grip stock as "A", with the same flat blue steel buttplate and inset "TR" medallion. Complete with box numbered to the gun.
