Description:

The left side of the barrel is marked "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" indicating that this rifle was manufactured after 1904. It has a German silver blade front sight, an adjustable buckhorn type rear sight, and a full length magazine. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and "30-30" at the breech. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY" and the upper tang is marked "MODEL/1893". Mounted on a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and magazine retain 95% original blue finish showing some minor thinning. The frame and lever retain 85% plus original case colors. The buttplate retains much of the original blue finish with an inscription in electric pencil: "Will S. Anderson/Chattanooga, Tenn." The wood is fine with extensive scattered storage marks and a filled hole behind the lower tang (likely from a now removed sling swivel stud) with most of the finish remaining. Mechanically excellent.
