Description:

The left side of the frame is marked "EDWARD MAYNARD/PATENTEE/MAY 27, 1851/DEC 6, 1859" followed by "1873" with the right side of the frame marked "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS". The lower tang is stamped with the serial number and "1865". The rifle has blade front and notch rear sights and a tang peep sight. The barrel is blue with a casehardened receiver and mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with a carbine style buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The receiver and lever retain 60% original case colors. The stock is fine as refinished with some scattered minor handling marks.
