Description:

Manufactured between 1888 and 1897 with a silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y.", the bottom flat is marked in front of the forearm "40 70" and the lower tang is faintly marked "5889". Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm with endcap and a straight grip stock with crescent steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine, 40% of the original blue finish remains with several dings an area that has been cleaned near the muzzle. Some of the blue has turned to a plum color. 30% of the original muted case colors remain with some patches of light surface oxidation and some pitting in front of the trigger guard and on the buttplate. The wood is very fine with some scattered light scratches and light dings.
