Description:

The Model 1805 was manufactured circa 1806 to 1808 with a total production of about 4,096 pistols and approximately 2,580 dated 1807. This model was the first military handgun manufactured by a national armory. The pistol has a 10 inch 54 caliber smooth bore barrel made without sights and a solid iron bottom rib. The mountings are brass and it has a wooden ram rod with a swollen tip. The iron parts were finished bright. The lock plate is marked "HARPERS/FERRY/1807" vertically behind the hammer with the spread winged eagle over "US" in front of the hammer. The left rear of the barrel is marked "462" ahead of a recessed "US" and "eagle head P". Mounted with a full walnut stock with a circled "V" over an oval "SW" cartouche.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The metal surfaces have a brown patina with some minor flash pitting on the breech end of the barrel and a small area of minor pitting near the muzzle end. The brass is showing a pleasant aged patina. The stock is also very good with a moderate chip at the front of the lock, sharp edges on the flats and some scattered minor dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. A nice scarce Harpers Ferry Model 1805 flintlock pistol in original configuration.
