Description:

Manufactured in the 1880s with only several hundred having been produced. This unique metallic cartridge revolver features a superposed barrel known as the "Duplex". The upper barrel is 22 caliber and the lower barrel is 32 caliber rimfire. The eight-round cylinder is for the upper barrel and the lower barrel is a single shot and also services as the cylinder pin. The hammer striker pivots for selectively firing the revolver or the single shot. It has a top break action which pivots downward for loading. The left side of the lower barrel is marked "OSGOOD GUN WORKS. NORWICH, CONN.", the top of the barrel rib is marked "PAT'D DEC. 7. 1880", and the barrel catch is marked "DUPLEX". The barrel and cylinder are numbered to the gun. The "6" in the frame serial number has been restamped (appears factory).

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% plus original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is a small patch of minor pitting on the barrel rib. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
