American officer's eagle pommel sword c. 1815-1840. The sword has a cast eagle head pommel, cast knuckle bow with foliate and scroll decorations, brass grip engraved with foliate designs, large counter guard with cast eagle and shield motif and 31 1/2-inch straight single fuller blade. The obverse of the blade is etched with foliate designs surrounded by a stand of military trophies topped by a liberty cap. The reverse is etched with foliate designs surrounding a spread eagle with a ribbon inscribed "E. Pluribus/Unum" above a stand of military trophies. The brass scabbard has a frog stud and two suspension rings. The scabbard body is engraved with foliate decorations and scallop and dot designs.

Very good. The blade has been lightly cleaned and has clear engraving with scattered minor age discoloration. The brass hilt has been polished but the cast and engraved decorations are sharp. The scabbard has several minor dents but remains in very good condition with sharp engraving.
