Description:

This flask appears to be the type made for all three models of Dragoons until 1855 when the flasks with the sloping charger and thumb cut-off were found to be more favorable. It is 9 1/2 inches in length with both sides stamped with the stand of flags, cannon, crossed rifles and pistols and unmarked banner at the bottom. Triangular carrying rings on the bottom sides, plunger style charger and compartment for 44 caliber balls. No markings. Not sure of age of this flask.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The surface has an aged patina and some discoloration. One of the carrying rings is missing. It appears that it was soldered on at one time and has since fallen off again. The lid for the ball compartment is missing and the charger is locked up.
