Description:

Manufactured in 1863. The top of the barrel has the standard one line New York U.S. AMERICA address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and "36 CAL" on the left side trigger guard shoulder. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas Naval battle scene and stamped with the partial serial number "2326". The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The wedge and arbor pin are marked with the partial number "2326". Fitted with a one-piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish overall mainly on the lug and protected underside with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The cylinder has a smooth brown patina with most of the scene visible. The frame retains 25% of the original case colors, mostly in the protected areas, with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. The grip straps have an aged patina with 20% original silver remaining in the protected areas around the trigger guard bow. The grip has been refinished with a filled repair on the lower left side, moderate wear on the lower edges and minor chips on the toes and lower edge. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
