Manufactured in 1890. Only 925 of these highly sought after Colt SAA Flattop Target Model revolvers (in all calibers combined) were manufactured between 1888 and 1896, therefore are highly regarded and sought after by collectors. Even rarer is the fact that only 24 Flattop Targets were chambered in 32 Colt caliber. These Flattop Target revolvers predominantly fell into the serial number range of 127000 to 163000. Not only rare, these revolvers were a very attractive and well finished variation. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.", the left side "32 COLT", with the three line, three patent dates on the lower left side of the frame and "32 CAL" on the upper left front of the trigger guard bow. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap (restamped), and the loading gate is marked with the assembly number "77". Pinned blade front sight and standard dovetailed rear "U" notch target sight. All blue finish with niter blue trigger and hammer with polished sides and fitted with fancy checkered walnut grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the Flattop Target configuration, caliber marked ".32 S&W, Colt?", 7 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to Montgomery Ward & Company, Chicago, Illinois on July 5, 1890.

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% original blue finish with muzzle and edge wear, a spot of bright, once cleaned pitting on the butt, a smooth mottled brown patina on the cylinder flats and back strap, with the front strap thinning. The high polished hammer shows strong and original niter blue finish. The grips are fine with a few chips on the lower edge of the left panel, a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear. The action is excellent.
