A barrel cluster rib is stamped "PATENTED 1837 CAST STEEL" with "ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER" on another rib. The hammer is marked "ALLEN'S PATENT" on the left side. The frame and recoil shield have a floral scroll engraving. Matching number on frame, barrel cluster, left grip panel and hammer spring. Fitted with smooth varnished grips. The wooden case is partitioned and lined with blue velvet. The following accessories are included: leather wrapped powder flask, ramrod. Hick's percussion cap tin with caps, two cavity brass bullet mold, 6 lead rounds and key.

Very fine. The barrel cluster retains 97% of the crisp original blue finish overall. The frame retains 50% bright original blue finish with the balance a mottled brown-gray patina. The engraving is crisp. The hammer retains traces of original case colors. The grips are excellent with most of the varnish remaining and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. The case is very fine with the decorative lock face inset missing, minor handling marks, and high spot wear on the otherwise fine original lining.
