Description:

Damascus barrels with a single bead sight on a solid rib marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST LONDON". The hammers, lock plates, trigger guard, and buttplate tang are floral scroll engraved with "WESTLEY RICHARDS" marked on the locks. The straight grip stock has a checkered wrist, single barrel wedge, blank initial silver plate behind the upper tang, and flat iron buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the serial number and 8 gauge barrels with the shotgun listed as being manufactured for Lord Jm. Scott on January 17, 1849. Further research could provide some interesting results. Comes with a wooden case with a Westley Richards paper label on the inside of the lid and three cleaning rod attachments.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall. The barrels retain half of the Damascus pattern with the balance a smooth dark brown patina with some light spotting. The trigger guard retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The hammers and lock plates retain 60% original case colors. The stock is fine with a number of minor pressure dents and a long hairline crack near the lock. The exterior of the case is very fine and has minor handling/storage wear with the interior in need of restoration as the partitions are knocked out.
