Description:

This is a 2nd Empire era officer's shako of the French Chasseurs a Cheval. The skull is composed of blue felt with gray lace trim around the top edge and black patent leather trim around the bottom edge. The top and front peak are also leather. There is a tricolor cockade on the front with a brass button in the center and a green feather plume above it and a brass French horn badge below it. Lion's head ear bosses suspend a leather backed chin chain. The front peak is lined with green skived leather, the sweat band is black leather and there is a yellow silk lining.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the felt shows some wear with wrinkles and indentations by the front badges. The patent leather has some wear with crazing. The lace has some wear. The gilt components have aged. The chin chain has been resewn to the backing in a couple places. The sweat band and lining have only light wear.
