Description:

This example, age unknown, has a brass octagonal barrel which has heavy relief engraved rooster with flowing feathers over the top three flats, with a notched standing rear sight and front blade sight integral with the barrel. Behind the rear sight on top is an engraved circle surrounding three leaves. Mounted in mahogany wood and brass fittings. Overall length is 8 3/4 inches. There is a hinged brass cover for the ignition hole on the right side of the barrel and a wooden ramrod inserted at the end of the fore-stock, with a thin brass plate which is loose. The left side of the stock has a brass chrysanthemum held in place by two brass nails.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with an even patina on the brass barrel and fittings. The otherwise very good stock has a glue repaired crack on the right side along the barrel and there is some natural age splitting on the left side below the barrel. Mechanically needs work.
