A) Engraved L Becher Percussion Pistol with Ornately Decorated and Carved stock

Description:

These matching percussion conversion pistols have relief engraved locks with a horsemen battle scene in front of and behind the hammer and are marked "L Becher" at the front. The hammer has relief floral scroll on the sides and a fish motif at the top. The barrel is partially octagon with light scroll engraving, (very faint) along the top and a gold blade front sight with gold inlay around it. The barrel tang is lightly engraved. The stock is carved along the side and behind the ramrod canal and is decorated with relief engraved brass mountings with a horsemen battle on the left side plate, three horsemen on the buttcap which extends half way up the back, a man with a sword on the trigger guard with a decorative finial, a horseman on the large thumb plate and scroll work on the forend cap. Complete with a hickory ramrod with brass tip.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled silver gray patina. The brass has an aged patina. The stock is also very good with some minor dents and dings. As noted above the barrel engraving is faint, however the lock, hammer and engraved brass components remains sharp. The action is excellent.
