Description:

This is a rare Officer's pickelhaube for the 7th Grenadier Regiment circa 1897. There is a gilt brass spike at the top and a gilt German eagle plate with a banner across the front of the eagle reading "MIT GOTT FUR KOENIG UND VATERLAND" and a banner below that marked "22 Marz 1797" referencing King Wilhelm 's date of birth. The ear bosses have the "KWI" cypher and suspend gilt chin scales. The front peak is lined with green fabric, the rear peak is lined with red fabric and the sweat band is brown with an embossed Depaheg patent mark. The right side has the national cockade of red, black and white. The left side has provincial cockade of black and white.

Rating Definition:

Very good, shows crazing and some wear. The gilt components show moderate wear with an aged patina on the exposed brass. There is a shallow dent in the brass trim on the visor. The sweat band has some tears and some material loss with the lining absent.
