Description:

This is a very desirable example of an early DWM Model 1902 Commercial Luger pistol. These early 1902 Commercial Lugers with the fat barrel are very rare and desirable to Luger collectors as only 500-600 were produced in total for sale in Europe and the U.S. This model was a continuation of the earlier 1900 commercial Luger however these were produced in the desirable "9 mm Luger" cartridge and not the 7.65 mm Luger. This pistol has the short old style frame with leaf springs and no stock lug, recessed breechblock, dished toggles with toggle lock and grip safety. The barrel extension is also the short old model with the blank chamber area with the front toggle correctly marked with the "DWM" logo. These are serial numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number (23087) stamped on the front of the frame, and underside of the barrel, with the partial serial number "87" on the various small parts, with both grips numbered (087) on the back sides. Lightly visible German Commercial "BUG" proofs are present on the underside of barrel. Inside the front frame recess and underside of the barrel extension there is the typical small circled triangle proof. This example has the correct polished lower safety area that is unmarked, and has the correct bright polished old style extractor. This Luger is complete with an original, nickel plated magazine body with wooden base, marked length wise in script, "Cal. 9m/m".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear with actual blue loss on the sides of the side plate hump. The barrel has light commercial proofs present, but is correct rust blue finish with a correct polished muzzle. The various small parts all retain 85% plus of their straw colors. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. An extremely rare and desirable DWM Model 1902 commercial Luger pistol.
