This is a very desirable late production, 1923 Commercial "Safe and Loaded" marked luger with the desirable 6 inch barrel, with the rare "A.F. Stoeger" markings on the barrel extension. These pistols fall into the late 1920s commercial serial number range of (73,000-96,000) with only approximately 7,000 total manufactured. This specific Luger was produced at the very end of that serial number range, probably made in 1928 or 1929. These were produced expressly for the US market and have the desirable "American Eagle" crest and is even rarer since it has the "A. F. Stoeger" markings. The distinguishing feature of this model is that they were marked 'LOADED' and 'SAFE' on the extractor and upper safety position, in lieu of "Geladen" and "Gesichert", with the late commercial serial number, and American Eagle crest. This pistol has the standard "Crown N" proof on the right side of the front toggle, with the right side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel, barrel marked "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. In addition the underside of the barrel also carries a single small "Crown M" Navy proof. It has the standard commercial number placement with standard sights. It is complete with a nickel plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base.

Excellent with 98% of the combination factory/Stoeger applied custom blued finish, with only minor edge and high spot wear overall. The various small parts retain 95% of their straw colors. The walnut grips are also excellent with nice distinct checkering on both sides. It has all matching numbers, except the barrel as correctly installed by Stoeger, the firing pin, grips and magazine which are all unnumbered. As noted this barrel was importer installed and there is a small spacer ring between the shoulder of the barrel and front of the barrel extension. In addition to that there is a small reinforcement ring in the chamber.
