Description:

This is a scarce example of a pre-war, pre-Nazi occupation Polish VIS, Radom pistol with a 1939 dated slide. These were designed for the Polish Army and Calvary and were originally issued with a wooden shoulder stock to fit into the slot on the back strap. As noted this version of Polish Radom pistol, has the earlier three levers on the left side with the stock slot machined in the back strap. These were well made, fully machined pistols that after the fall of Poland, were eventually used by numerous German Army units throughout the war. The left side of the slide is marked in two-lines, two-block: "R.B RADOM/1939" and "VIS-wz.35 / pat. Nr.15567" with the Polish Eagle in the middle. These do not carry any Nazi proofs, but have the Polish proof and acceptance marks on both sides of the trigger guard bow and left side of the slide ahead of the decocking lever. This pistol is very unusual in that the frame serial number has a "triangle or delta" suffix marking behind the serial number, which may indicate a post-war Polish Arsenal refurbishment. The barrel is marked with a "SP3" serial number or proof and the slide has been Arsenal restamped to match the frame.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 99% of the blued finish remaining overall. The markings are clear and visible with nice sharp edges and flats. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice checkering on both sides with no cracks or damage, only showing a few minor handling marks.
