Description:

This is an extremely rare example of an early 1906 Commercial Contract Navy pistol that was produced prior to WWI for sale both inside and outside of Germany. These commercial contract Navy Pattern Luger pistols were produced in very limited numbers in the same serial number ranges as the standard Model 1906 Commercial pistols except they have the six inch long Naval barrel and the two position, Navy style adjustable rear sight. This example is even rarer in that it has the new style recoil spring (coil spring) with the "old" style short frame. Obviously the DWM factory was using up the old left over parts. This Luger has both the grip and thumb safeties, and is equipped with the first pattern polished lower safety area, with the extractor marked "GELDAEN". The chamber area is unmarked and the front toggle is marked "DWM". The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel both have the early "Crown/B, U and or G" proof marks. It is correctly numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number stamped on the various small parts. This beautiful Luger is complete with an extremely rare, original, 1906 pattern Commercial "Navy" walnut board stock. The stock correctly is unmarked with no stock disc and the attaching iron is numbered "36721" which is almost matching to the Luger pistol, but in the same serial number range. The magazine is a correct commercial Navy version with the nickel plated body with the "Cal 9M/M" marked wooden base with concentric circles.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% original blue finish. The various small parts retain 85% of their bright straw colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering on both sides with only a few minor handling marks. The rare Navy stock is also in excellent condition with a nice old, aged light brown color overall, with some minor handling marks and scratches with no crack or damage. The attaching iron retains 90% of the rust blued finish overall.
