Description:

This is an excellent, like new example of a mid-production 1906 "American Eagle" Commercial Luger, that has been fitted with a fantastic all original and like new rare Ideal combination metal shoulder stock/leather holster. These 1906 commercial Lugers were made expressly for export to the United States and foreign markets. These metal telescoping stocks were a U.S. design, patented by the "Ideal" company and were developed prior to incorporation of the stock lug on the back of the Luger frame. After DWM developed the stock lug on the back of the luger frame these Ideal stock fell out of disfavor, which basically ended most of their sales. To attach the Ideal stock, each pistol was fitted with a set of the special smooth walnut grips with the metal back plate that has cutouts on each side which engage a set of hooks on the front end of the telescoping metal stock. There is a small button on top of the metal frame that allows the stock to be extended an additional 4 inches, giving it an overall length of 14 inches. The center section of the stock has a leather holster to store the pistol and the left side of the frame has a spring loaded metal belt loop. Both sides of the metal frame are marked "PATENTS PENDING". The actual 1906 Commercial luger chamber is marked with the American Eagle crest, with the DWM logo on the front toggle. This particular pistol is absent of any crown proof marks and the full pistol serial number (35326) is stamped on the front of the frame over "GERMANY", indicating this pistol was made for export. The partial serial number "26" is marked on some of the small parts. It has the pre-war blued finish with the safety, trigger, takedown lever and ejector having a straw color. This luger is fitted with an unmarked nickel plated magazine that has an unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the original blue finish overall with just a hint of very minor edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 95% of their straw colors overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The luger has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted and the firing pin which is unnumbered. The Ideal grips are in exceptionally nice original condition with nice matching medium brown color on both side with only a few minor handling marks. The stock is in fantastic condition overall with 95% plus of the original blue finish on the metal components. The actual leather holster is in the same condition as the metal, which is in a fantastic like new condition, with 98% of the original back color to the outside of the holster with minimal handling marks and scuffs in a couple of places. The inside of the holster is just like the outside, in excellent plus to near new condition showing only some minor scuffing. The stitching is tight overall. This is the "best" Ideal combination grip set and stock/holster combination rig that this describer has ever seen. It is just exceptional and was probably very rarely used, if ever! The luger itself is in the same exceptional condition and if you were ever wanting to purchase one of these complete rigs, in super high end condition, this is the rig you need to purchase, as there won't be another one.
