Description:

This is an excellent example of an original 1916 dated Steyr-Hahn Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol as issued by the Austrian Army. The Steyr Hahn was originally introduced as a commercial pistol, but was quickly adopted by the Austro-Hungarian, Chilean, and Romanian militaries. This pistol has the Austrian military markings on the right side of the frame of the "W. n/Austrian Eagle/16" and the left side has the unit markings of "28/G/8" with the serial number 73221 marked on the frame and slide. The upper rear left side of the slide is marked "STEYR 1916" followed by a small "K" and large "S". The small "K" also appears on the left rear of the frame, on the safety lever, extractor and hammer. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips and is complete with an original unmarked brown leather military holster. The holster has the single flap closure on the front with the double "D" ring belt attachment on the back.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 85% plus of the original blue finish with some thinning mixed with some oxidation of the finish on the grip straps. The remainder of the pistol is actually considerably better and shows only minor edge and high spot wear overall with some blue loss on the front edges of the slide. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides mixed with some handling marks and light pressure dents. The holster is in very good plus condition with a nice original brown color overall with scratches and scuffs in various areas with some color loss on the edges of the flap and lower edges. The Stitching is tight and intact and matches the pistol in overall condition, a very nice rig.
