This is a standard WWI 1896 Mauser Contract "Red 9" Broomhandle pistol. The right side of the frame marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A NECKAR." with the top of the chamber area marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N.". The Mauser "Crown/U" proof mark is located on the left side of the barrel extension and again on the top, left side of the bolt. It has a standard fixed front sight with the rear sight marked "50-500" with the hammer marked with the intertwined "NS" for new safety. It is fitted with standard 23 groove grips which have the large number "9" on each side that has been filled with red paint. The front of the magazine well has the standard Imperial Eagle proof mark. This pistol is complete with a correct style combination walnut shoulder stock/holster that has been fitted with a restamped/renumbered attaching iron.

Excellent with 97% of the military blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear on the lower front edge of the magazine well/floor plate, muzzle area and front of the frame rails. The various markings are clear and sharp overall. The wooden stock is in very fine condition with handling marks, scratches and light pressure dents. The remaining metal parts, hinge and locking latch etc. retain 15% of their blued finish mostly in the protected areas. The pistol itself has matching numbers while the stock attaching iron, as noted was renumbered to match the pistol.
