This is an example of a 1944 production Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 pistol. The left side of the slide is marked with the third type legend "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and the "P" proof is marked on top centered between the ejection port and rear sight. The right side of the frame is stamped with a rather faint Ordnance Wheel cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number behind the slide stop hole and "M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with "FJA" the inspector mark for Frank J. Atwood with a "P" near the magazine release. It has the checkered stamped trigger, checkered hammer with narrow spur, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch, serrated arched mainspring housing with nine grooves and checkered walnut grips. It is fitted with a proper blue finish barrel marked with the "P" proof on the left side and "HS" indicating High Standard manufacture on the right side of the lug. This pistol has a blue finish unmarked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine as custom modified (front grip strap). The pistol retains 80% of the arsenal parkerized finish with sharp edge wear and marks from use and handling. Some scratches are visible on both sides of the frame above and behind the trigger. The front strap is non-professionally stippled. The replacement grips are good with wear and marks from use and handling. The right grip is cracked at the top with a chip at the bottom and a couple of dings on the bottom of the left grip.
